LOCAL INTEREST GROUPS

Near to Port Eynon, on the Gower peninsula, it is possible to go riding, surfing, walking and to play golf amongst other activities.

Within Port Eynon there are a number of local interest groups open to anyone interested.

If you would like to start a group yourself, just let us have some details and we will add it to this website.

PORT EYNON ART GROUP
The Art Group meets in the Village Hall on Tuesdays at 2.00pm - 4.45pm. Why not join is now or in the New Year from 9th January, at a weekly cost of just £1? We work alongside one another, and enjoy a cup of tea and a chat mid-afternoon. Our talent varies, and we encourage one another! Members' work is exhibited at our annual August show. Contact Margaret Rees, or just come along.

UPDATE FROM THE PORT EYNON C.A.T - (Children's Activity Team)
The Port Eynon Children's Activity Team was set up in September 2007 with the aim of providing children's activities and events in the Village Hall. The team is currently made up of five local mums! namely; Sian Brooks, Julie Harris, Denise Howard, Christine Liddle and Claire Payne. We are keen to welcome anyone who would like to get involved as little or as much as they wish. Do you have a talent, skill or interest that you would like to share with the children? A one off talk/session could be arranged. Topics could include local history, wartime stories, music etc. If you are interested in getting involved with the children's activities (age and gender irrelevant!) please contact Julie Harris on tel. 390270 or e-mail juharris23@gmail.com

Our inaugural event was the Halloween Party in October which was a huge success. A large group of children turned up to 'trick and treat' their way through the village down to the hall and we would like to thank everyone who gave so generously. Also thank you to our judges Jean Higgins and Margaret Shaw who were put on the spot on the evening to judge our best dressed mummy and our pumpkin competitions. Also to Anne and Jeff Payne for being such good sports and letting the children wrap them in toilet roll!

A Children's Craft Club is now held in the village hall every Thursday during term time. The sessions are from 4.30pm - 5.30pm and are run by Suzie Game from Horton. Activities have included the children rolling and decorating their own candles and making felt insole welly warmers using wool which they have combed themselves. If there is enough interest we are hoping to run a week long workshop over the summer where children will get the opportunity to produce and display their work in the hall.

The Children's Activity Team hope to run a number of events over the spring and summer months and will advertise them via the village notice boards, the village website and flyers. So look out for coming events!

In the meantime if you would like any more information or would like to make any suggestions please contact Julie Harris on tel: 390272 or email juharris23@gmail.com
